The Bright Ideas Partnership has two experienced fundraising consultants at its helm.

Sarah Boardman has ten years experience working in fundraising in the voluntary sector. Her areas of expertise are trust fundraising and making complex funding applications for charitable projects. She previously successfully managed all of Trust Fundraising for The Salvation Army. Sarah has a Masters in Development Studies and has supported a number of grassroots International NGOs to develop their fundraising capacity. Sarah is also a trustee for Stepping Stones Nigeria.

Joanne Ryan has extensive experience fundraising for charities and not-for-profits. Her areas of expertise are statutory fundraising, tendering for contracts and trust fundraising. She has worked as the Fundraising and Development Manager for Victim Support Southwark. In this role, she was a sole fundraiser and as such, she understands the need for developing and implementing an effective fundraising strategy for a small charity with limited resources and support. Joanne is also a trustee of the charity Women in Prison, and has a Masters in Criminology and Forensic Psychology.

In addition, Bright Ideas works with a number of skilled Associates, who have in-depth knowledge and experience of grant fundraising, fundraising strategies and undertaking external evaluations:

Kate Brook has worked in the fundraising sector for over 12 years, specialising as a Prospect Researcher. She previously worked as the Research Manager at the Royal Academy of Arts. Kate has supported a diverse range of charities and not-for-profit organisations, both large and small (including Children 1st, Equilibrium – the Bipolar Foundation, Natural History Museum and Shelter Scotland) to strengthen their fundraising through the identification of strong prospects.

Anna Lawrence is an experienced fundraiser with extensive experience of the international development/human rights sector, working in a broad range of roles including fundraising, capacity building and organisational development in the UK, Malawi and Zambia. Her specialisation is trust and institutional funding and she has significant experience of both raising and managing European Commission grants. She has worked for the World Development Movement, VSO and more recently Article 19. Anna is also currently studying for a Masters in Philosophy.

Anna Marsden has experience of managing people, projects and service delivery in the third sector. Previously, she was the Victim Support Borough Manager in Southwark. Recently, she has worked with a number of charities and Local Councils to undertake external evaluations of projects, and to improve Risk Assessment and Service User Involvement processes. Anna is also a qualified trainer with teaching experience at university level. Anna holds an MA in Women’s Studies with specialist knowledge regarding the LGBT community and Violence Against Women.

Claire Murray has worked in the non-profit and charitable sector for 12 years specialising in fundraising, marketing and communications. She has successfully raised money from trust, corporate and statutory sources for organisations involved in the fields of HIV, women in the criminal justice system, violence against women, and services for disadvantaged young people. Claire has a Masters in Human Rights and volunteers for a Rape Crisis Centre.

Katy Richards has been working within the voluntary sector for nearly 20 years, and brings a wealth of experience across the fundraising spectrum gained in a wide range of organisations – including St John Ambulance Sussex, British Lung Foundation and the Thames Community Foundation. Katy has in-depth knowledge of major donor fundraising, event project management and community fundraising initiatives. Katy is also an experienced interim manager, having managed teams at Cancerbackup, Macmillan Cancer Support and BAAF Adoption & Fostering.

Anna Taylor has more than a decade of fundraising experience including growing income from a variety of sources, including trusts, companies, high net worth individuals and online-giving. She worked as UK Director of Child In Need India for over five years and prior to that led the fundraising team at Deafness Research UK. She has a Masters in Development and a particular passion for working with charities in the international development field. She is also a regular columnist for Third Sector magazine.
